Kentucky Mom Arrested After Allegedly Selling Her Infant for $2,000

A mother in Kentucky has been arrested by authorities after she allegedly sold her infant child for $2,000, police said.

Police contacted Maria Domingo Perez, 31, after officials at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary School in Bowling Green, Kentucky reported that a woman was trying to give away a baby. According to the arrest report, when police asked Domingo-Perez about the accusation, she gave officers "conflicting statements" about the sale. She later admitted to detectives that she gave the baby to a man a woman, the report said.

Police tracked down the couple, Catarina Jose Felipe, 37, and Jose Manuel Pascual, 45, who told detectives that they paid Domingo-Perez $2,000 for the infant.

Authorities did not mention any motive for the sale and the child's age and gender were not released by police. The child along with Domingo-Perez's four other children have been taken into custody by social services.

All three suspects were arrested and charged with selling or purchasing a child for adoption on Tuesday, jail records show. They're currently being held in Warren County Regional Jail, police said.
