Bison Rams Rental Car During Stampede In Yellowstone National Park

A family driving through Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming got a lot more than they bargained for when they came face-to-face with a herd of stampeding bison.

Bruce Delle Chiaie was driving with his wife and three children on August 13 when a herd of bison appeared on the road. The family began recording video as hundreds of bison started charging in their direction.

While most of the bison ran around their car and other vehicles that were stopped on the road, one decided to ram right into the hood of their rental car.

"I can't believe we didn't take the insurance," Bruce can be heard saying in the video. "The whole hood is crushed."

Bruce did not say how much it cost to get the car repaired, but the damage appeared to be extensive. The bison shattered the windshield, destroyed the side-view mirror, and crushed the hood. Luckily, nobody was injured during their close encounter with the giant wild animal.

This isn't the first time that visitors at Yellowstone have had a dangerous encounter with a bison. Back in July, a nine-year-old girl was tossed into the air by an angry bison, while last summer, park rangers responded to multiple reports of people antagonizing the wild animals.
