Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play in Sunday's (November 23) game against the Chicago Bears, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed to CBS Sports sideline reporter Evan Washburn during a pregame interview.

Backup Mason Rudolph, who took over after Rodgers suffered a wrist injury during the Steelers' Week 11 win against the Cincinnati Bengals, will start in his absence. Rodgers reportedly won't need surgery on his injured wrist and pushed to play in Sunday's game, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport last Tuesday (November 18).

Tomlin later confirmed that Rodgers wouldn't need surgery during his own press conference on Tuesday.

"Really it's just about bracing it and securing it for his comfort and safety, and then it's about how functional he is." Tomlin said via Pelissero.

Rodgers sustained the injury during the third quarter of the Steelers' 34-12 win against the Bengals last Sunday, throwing for 116 yards and one touchdown on 9 of 15 passing prior to the injury. Rudolph threw for 127 yards and one touchdown on 12 of 16 passing.

Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Steelers this past offseason ahead of what many suspect could be the last of his 21-year NFL career. The four-time NFL MVP spent his first 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and has a 24-5 regular-season and 1-0 postseason record against the NFC North Divisional rival Bears.
