USA Gymnastics Files For Bankruptcy Protection After Sexual Abuse Scandal

The governing body of gymnastics in the United States is filing for bankruptcy protection as it tries to recover from a sexual abuse scandal.  USA Gymnastics filed the paperwork in Indianapolis, Indiana today.  The organization has been dealing with fallout after Dr. Larry Nassar was convicted of sexual misconduct and sentenced to 175 years in prison in January.  There have been more than 100 lawsuits filed against the governing body by more than 350 Nassar survivors. Athletes have accused USA Gymnastics of covering up Nassar's abuses.  Michigan State University, where Nassar worked, agreed to pay survivors $500,000,000 earlier this year.
