Video Shows Baltimore High School Student Punching Teacher

A teacher at Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore was punched in the face by one of her students when she tried to intervene in an argument between two teens. A video of the altercation was posted on Instagram, where it quickly went viral.

In the video, the two teens are arguing inside the classroom while the teacher attempts to calm the situation down. As they are yelling, one student appears to back away while the other student decks the teacher in the face. After punching the teacher, he walks out of the classroom while cursing as she follows him out of the door.

Baltimore City Schools released a statement on the incident saying the student will face discipline for his actions.

“School administrators at Frederick Douglass High School continue to investigate a physical altercation that took place today when a teacher was struck by a student following a verbal exchange. Ensuring a safe teaching and learning environment for our students and staff is paramount to City Schools. Upon reviewing the incident, school administrators will apply disciplinary action in accordance with Baltimore City Public Schools’ Code of Conduct.”
